Jelena Gazivoda is an artist who makes work that investigates identity, place and human condition. Her practice is an exploration of classical drawing and observation and focuses on the human figure as a potent and persistent metaphor for social and cultural relations. Jelena received her MFA from State University of New York at New Paltz in 2009. She received her BFA degree at the Academy of Applied Arts in Belgrade, Serbia and then at the University of Central Oklahoma in 2005.
For the past 5 years she taught Art at SUNY New Paltz, NY. She currently resides in San Diego, CA where she maintains a studio practice.
